With more than 80% of internet users saying that they primarily use search engines to find what they are looking for online, finding way to appear among the top ranked sites has become a major concern for business owners with a web presence.

April 17, 2006 -- Until a site ranks among the top results, it remains in the backdrop of the hundreds of pages that appear before your website in the search results.

411webinteractive.com is one such search engine marketing service provider that helps website owners to attain a higher ranking through search engine optimization. It is known that search engines analyze websites based on a number of factors to serve pages most relevant to a visitors search. Search engine optimization is the process of making your web page content attractive to search engine indexing.

It’s only natural that web surfers tend to view only the first few pages on a search engine listing to get the information they desire. The top search engines have use complicated algorithms to make sure these first few pages produce highly relevant information. As a result, a web site will achieve a higher traffic if it is listed among the initial pages of the search listing.

Web success is measured in terms of click through, which is the percentage of time a user clicks your link compared with the number of times the link is served. A higher click through rate ideally equals more profits. Getting help from search engine marketing services is an increasing popular among site owners.

Proper positioning of the keywords and effective phrasing are some of the optimization techniques that will earn a website a higher ranking. If the content of a web page is well organized and matches the particular search with utmost consistency, then the page is more likely to appear at the top of a search. Search engine optimization, offered through companies such as 411webinteractive.com, is fast becoming one of the most important investments site owners can make in their businesses.

links

add your links here
#1 Free Link Exchange Directory On The Web - Link Market
Have you ever tried to exchange links, swap links, or trade links? According to this firm, it's better to have its SEO professionals only specialize in SEO and its usability professionals only specialize in Web site usability.
Which got me to thinking: is it better to only have SEO professionals specialize in the optimization procedure or have multitalented optimization professionals on staff?
SEO Specialists
I have to admit my first response upon reading this was, well, laughter. In my opinion, beginner, intermediate, and advanced SEO professionals have a wide variety of skills. A beginner SEO professional, for example, has keyword research and search-friendly copywriting skills. An intermediate and advanced SEO professional has additional technical skills, including coding and programming.
There are even SEO specialties within the industry. Some SEO professionals focus on the entire copywriting aspect of the optimization process. I have a great deal of admiration for this group, because it can be tricky to make a client happy with copy that doesn't conform to the way the client has been trained or educated.
I find it very, very difficult to work with journalists and PR professionals, for example. I understand news items and press releases need catchy headlines. I understand news articles must conform to an inverted-pyramid (most important information first) writing style, which is actually a good way of writing for SEO, too. However, I also understand that if a news article doesn't contain the words and phrases people type into search queries, that article might not receive qualified search engine traffic. I've a great deal of respect for my colleagues who can get their clients to strike the balance between search-friendly copy and journalistic style.
Likewise, as a Web developer I have to work with other developers and usability professionals who clearly do not understand search-friendly Web site design. Somehow, the definition of search-friendly design has come to mean a site navigation scheme formatted as text links (only) and a keyword-stuffed URL structure with an ASP/CFM/PHP workaround for dynamic-looking URLs. And therein lies the problem with being a person who only specializes in SEO.
When people only write and design sites for the commercial Web search engines, they forget the entire user experience. Web site usability doesn't even enter the picture. Search engine spammers define conversion points as ranking and click-throughs only. I could easily program a click bot (define) to do that.
It reminds me of an outstanding presentation Dana Todd from SiteLab gave at a Search Engine Strategies conference. In her presentation, Todd outlined some of the complaints ad agencies have about working with SEO firms. One major complaint was that SEO firms ruin a site's design.
My gut reaction was to act all offended, but then I realized she makes a great point. Too many SEO specialists have such a poor understanding of Web site usability, branding efforts (through the design elements), and content management systems. They really can ruin a site's positive user experience.
In other words, SEO specialists often don't look at the big picture.
SEO Generalists
On the flip side, SEO generalists have a wide variety of skills. They have keyword research and copywriting skills. They can code and program Web sites. In other words, many SEO generalists are Web developers or Web site usability professionals who have optimization skills. SEO generalists often see the big picture.
My last column about Mike the Genius was about some of the best SEO professional I've ever met. Their understanding of how people search and browse Web sites is exceptional. Granted, one doesn't often encounter a Mike/Michelle the Genius in the SEO industry, but they are a good example of generalists who clearly understand the search process.

If I could wave a magic wand and create more Web developers and usability professionals who clearly understand the search process, I would. In fact, whenever I train large companies on SEO, I don't separate the copywriters (content providers), designers (creative), and IT staff. It's important for each person to understand the others' roles in creating a search-friendly Web site.
If a copywriter forgets to write a title tag, for example, at least the IT staffer will know and remember how important title-tag content is for optimization. Of course, I'd never expect non-technical staff to understand how to implement a ColdFusion URL workaround. However, I can expect non-technical staff to understand a URL structure that isn't spider-friendly can and does interfere with a search engine's ability to retrieve content.
Conclusion
Does it sound like I prefer SEO generalists to SEO specialists? On the surface, it may seem so, except that the term "SEO specialist" can be misleading. A top-of-the-line SEO specialist has a wide variety of skills. Some people might label an SEO specialist as an SEO generalist because of the skill set.
The bottom line for me isn't whether an SEO professional is a generalist or specialist. It's delivering a Web site that meets user goals, business goals, and search engine goals. A truly great SEO professional is a person who can apply his or her skills to attain all those goals.
Meet Shari at Search Engine Strategies in Toronto, April 25-26, 2006.
Want more search information? If you don't rank well, then you'd better do something other than (participate in link exchange programs) and (worrying about PageRank). --------------------
Free advice and opinions are provided without any warranties or guarantees. The search engines are not looking for reciprocal links, they are looking for links to your site. If they look at whether the links are reciprocated (now or in the future) it would be to devalue them or filter them out of their calculations.PageRank is a consideration, but it is far from the only one. There are at least a dozen other important considerations that deal more with the search terms you are targeting than any measurable aspect of the website. To make a very broad generalization, any link exchange program that serves as more than an introduction between webmasters interested in exchanging links, probably risks doing more harm than good, at least from what I have seen, unless your SEO skills are advanced enough to pick out the few gems among the gravel. --------------------
David Leonhardt: This above all; to thine own self be true.SEO Consultant and Happiness Specialist
-->

newbieofseo
Nov 1 2005, 11:50 AM
Post #6
HR 1Group: MembersPosts: 7Joined: 24-October 05Member No.: 9,133
Thank you all.Could you recommend some articles to me?I think I should read more articles. --------------------
My blog: newbieofseo.blogspot.com My case: t10host.com

Jill
Nov 1 2005, 11:54 AM
Post #7
High Rankings AdvisorGroup: AdminPosts: 17,899Joined: 21-July 03From: Ashland, MAMember No.: 2
Read our Link Building Articles for the true facts of the situation. This article isn't about that aspect of inbound links, although it is briefly touched on. This article discusses inbound links for their link popularity/PageRank value, and provides ideas on how to acquire them.
Why do we need inbound links?
Even before Google came on the scene, link popularity (linkpop) was being used by one or two search engines as part of their algorithm when determining the rankings for any given searchterm. Then when Google arrived with their link-based PageRank, link popularity took off and became an absolute essential ingredient in achieving top rankings.
The idea behind linkpop is that the more pages that link to a page, the more important the page is and it, therefore, deserves a higher ranking than it would otherwise have.
Some engines simply counted the number of links coming into a page (inbound links), but Google took the idea a step further. Each inbound link comes comes from a page which itself has inbound links. The more inbound links on the linking page, the more important that page is and, therefore, the more important the link to our page is. So Google gives more weight to inbound links from important pages that it does to inbound links from lesser pages. They call the idea "PageRank", and you can learn all about in this PageRank article.
Google is the world's number one search engine, and currently provides the results for around 80% of all the searches done in the world. Because of that, it is vitally important for any website that relies on search engine traffic to do well in Google. Doing well in Google means making the site 'important' in Google's eyes and, to do that, the site must have good inbound links - as many of them as possible, and preferably from important pages (pages with medium to high PageRank values).
How do we get inbound links?
There are a number of ways. Some of them are:-
Forums Join forums and place links to your site(s) in your signature line. Use your main searchterms as the link text - I'll come to why that is necessary later in this article. But before spending time writing lots of posts with your signature line in each post, make sure that the forum is spiderable by checking the robots.txt file, and make sure that non-members don't have session IDs in the URLs. Also make sure that links in signature lines are not hidden from spiders (view the source code to make sure that signature links are in plain HTML format and not in Javascript).
Link exchange centers Find a join free link exchange center like LinkPartners.com. There you can find a categorized directory of websites that also want to exchange links. Be careful not to sign up with FFA (Free For All) sites because they are mostly email address gatherers and you can expect a sudden increase in email spam soon after you sign up. Also, only sign up with centers where you can approach other sites personally, and where they can approach you personally.
Do not join any link farms!!! Link farms, such as LinksToYou.com, sound excellent for building up linkpop and PageRank, but search engines (Google in particular) disapprove of them as blatant attempts to manipulate the rankings and they will penalize sites that use them. Once a site has been penalized, it is very difficult to get the penalty lifted, so avoid all link farms.
Email requests (a) Search on Google for your main searchterms and find the websites that are competing with you. Then find which sites link to them by searching "link:www.cometitor-domain.com". Email them and ask for a link exchange. (b) Search on Google for websites that are related to your site's topic, but not direct competitors, and ask them for a link exchange.
Buy them There are websites that want to sell links. They are usually medium to high PageRank sites, and often the link will be placed on multiple pages, or all pages within the site. It's possible to approach individual sites where you would like your links to appear, but it is much quicker, easier and more reliable to use a middle-man service (or broker).
Link brokers offer links for sale on behalf of other websites (you could use the service to sell links on your site!). With these services, it is usual to be able to choose the type (topic) of the website(s) where you want to place your links. I am not aware of any disreputable practises with link brokering. However, I can recommend the Text Link Brokerage service (banners on this page) as being highly reputable.
Finally, there are even links for sale by public auction, such as the one at LinkAdage Auctions.
What type of links?
Inbound links serve three purposes:- (1) they add linkpop and PageRank to the site, (2) they send traffic to the site, and (3) if the link text (the text that is clicked on) is good, then the page's rankings can be improved.
(1) for linkpop, either text or graphic links are fine, (2) for traffic, text links are known to be more effective than graphic links, and (3) to positively affect a page's rankings, text links are the best. So get text links and not graphic links.
(1) for linkpop, get links from anywhere, (2) for traffic, get links from related sites, and (3) to improve the page's rankings, get links from anywhere - the higher the PageRank of the linking page, the better and, whenever possible, make sure that the link text is one of your main searchterms (see Search Engine Optimization - the basics).
Summary
Inbound links are important for websites that want to move up the rankings. Inbound links, with the right link text, are essential for achieving top rankings.
Most websites are not natural link magnets, and link acquisition can be time-consuming and frustrating. Many websites that are approached by email will say no, but some will say yes. For top rankings, it is essential to take the time and get many inbound links.

How can I find the first reciprocal link for a new site?

After I read this article, I submit some link exchange program.
